Tents & Trails ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

Tents & Trails does not require an account, registration, or login. We do not collect your name, email address, or any other personally identifiable information directly from you.

Automatically Collected Information

• Anonymous User Identifier: A randomly generated UUID is created on your device and stored in the iOS Keychain. This identifier is used solely to associate your solve times with percentile rankings and is not linked to any personal information.
• Puzzle Solve Data: When you complete a puzzle, your solve time and the puzzle identifier are sent to our servers to calculate global percentile rankings and puzzle statistics.
• Device Information: We do not collect device model, OS version, or hardware identifiers beyond what Apple or third-party SDKs may collect as described below.

iCloud Data

If you enable iCloud sync, your puzzle progress, statistics, and app settings are synced through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) service. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

2. Third-Party Services

Google AdMob

The free version of Tents & Trails displays ads provided by Google AdMob. Google may collect and use data as described in Google's Privacy Policy. This may include device identifiers and usage data for ad personalization. You can opt out of personalized ads through your device's privacy settings.

Firebase Crashlytics

We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and diagnostic data. This helps us identify and fix bugs. Crashlytics may collect device state, crash stack traces, and a crash-specific installation identifier. No personally identifiable information is included in crash reports.

Apple StoreKit

In-app purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. Payment and transaction information is handled entirely by Apple and governed by their privacy policy.

3. How We Use Information

We use the limited information we collect to:

• Calculate and display global percentile rankings for puzzle solve times
• Generate aggregate puzzle statistics (average solve times, solve counts)
• Identify and fix crashes and bugs
• Display advertisements in the free version

4. Data Storage and Security

Puzzle solve data is transmitted to and stored on our servers using HTTPS encryption. Your anonymous user identifier is stored securely in the iOS Keychain on your device. We retain solve data indefinitely for statistical purposes but it cannot be traced back to you personally.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your information to third parties. We share data only with the third-party service providers listed above (Google AdMob, Firebase Crashlytics) and only as necessary for their described purposes.

6. Children's Privacy

Tents & Trails is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The anonymous identifier and solve data described above apply to all users equally.

7. Your Choices

• Ad Tracking: You can limit ad tracking through iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. You can also purchase the "Remove Ads" in-app purchase to eliminate all advertising.
• iCloud Sync: You can enable or disable iCloud sync within the app's settings.
• Data Deletion: To delete your local data, you can delete the app from your device. To request deletion of your server-side solve data, contact us at the email below.

8. App Tracking Transparency

Tents & Trails complies with Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. We will request your permission before allowing third-party services to track your activity across other apps and websites.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
